Abstract	Combat operations can place extreme stress on Soldiers and consequently hinder their ability to maintain typical behavior. There are numerous accounts indicating the strain of combat conditions has led to the unethical behavior and consequently war crimes being committed. What are the main reasons Soldiers find themselves in ethical confusion and unable to distinguish right from wrong? Is the implication of directing immoral orders substantial justification for those who choose to follow such orders?... Soldiers no longer require the detailed control of orders. With an increased number of small task forces composed of only a handful of Soldiers, a great deal of trust and confidence must be placed in those Soldiers to make correct decisions in a timely manner. Because of this, strong moral and ethical standards are now more imperative than ever. Soldiers must always strive to retain a high degree of integrity, regardless of the situation or circumstances they may find themselves in. The United States military strives to instill the highest moral standards and has more recently began to focus on ethical decision making. The process of developing the best trained combat Soldier should also produce the best morally prepared Soldier. In turn, future unfortunate mistakes might be avoided, and perhaps someday all immoralities, even those recently encountered during the recent events of Abu Ghraib prison might be averted.
